  1. get a 2x4 piece of wood and while your turning it put the wood between the prop and the top of the lower unit that it gets close too

than it wont move and do the same when your putting the prop back on

torgue it to 55lbs when you put it back on

  2. Jim has the answer.

Use a piece of wood blocked in such a manner that the prop can't turn.

And good tip too on the overtightening. Props don't need to be extra tight, the cotter pin and nut or the winged washer and nut will hold them in place.

  3. you can order a prop holder from lowes....its about 10 inchs long and its biodgradable so after siting out side for a few years it will go back to nature... by that time a new one will be on the market.... oh yeal comes in colors....green and brown... the green one cost more,... but could out last your prop...and one last thing ....lefty loosy,,,,,rity...tity    on that nutty thingy

  4. My guess is your having trouble getting the prop nut off?   If so jam a 2x4 or 2x6 between the lower unit and the blades.  Then turn easily until the prop stops turning.  Remember to release the prop nut lock.  Good luck!

  5. Jam a piece of 2X4 between the gearcase and the prop.  Prop nuts only need to be snug, the tab washer prevents it from coming loose.

  6. Put it in gear and it won't turn. It should come right off if it was put on right to start  with.
