I have tried everywhere to get money to help troubled teens and have come up empty handed. I have no idea where to look next.

  1. my answer would just be a bit of a follow on from Jayne's... I would suggest that, after you've got all the data you need to back up your idea and prove that you have the resources and skills to go ahead with this.. then start with your local city council. Propose it to them and if you get the approval.. then start off advertising in places such as schools, local shopping malls /arcades.. you know.. all the places where your target group would see your ads/flyers. Try asking some of the teens themselves what they would do to raise money... put it to vote or referendum. Good Luck. I hope you do get approval and you can make it work. Anything that keeps kids off the streets and out of trouble gets a ^5!

  2. You need to get a very impassioned group of people together who support your idea and will provide some start up funding and serve on the board of directors, you need to get letters of endorsement from existing organizations saying this program is needed, you need to have data that shows your target group is in need whatever service it is that you want to provide and that they are not served otherwise, and you need to have a draft of what your first year's budget would look like (what expenses you expect to incur, what you expect to pay staff, etc.). Only after you do all this would you be in a position to start trying to start a formal organization and to raise funds.
