I would like for people who have been in this circumstance to give me solid feedback. I don't know if I can actually say the truth. My former teacher is very friendly and very good, but she is not entirely motivated as a teacher.

  1. My case, i told her i have financial problem and have to go to cheaper one and i was busy.

probably you stop with her and wait for a while  like a month and start going to new one.

You could tell her the truth , but becareful on how you saying it.

  2. I have been in this exact situation. My singing coach treated me more like a friend, than a student. She would spend more time talking than teaching. I didn't feel that she was motivated either. I found that it was easier to write out a letter saying why you want to switch. Don't send her the letter, but when you see her explain to her why, exactly as you did in the letter. Try not to think about her as a friend, but more like an employee.

The truth is always the best way to go. But you might want to sugar coat it a bit. lol!

  3. I have been in this exact situation. While I adored my former teacher, one must understand you have a business relationship. Though you may know each other well, it is still business. This issue is touchy, essecially if these people have any role in you getting roles and gigs. Don't burn bridges. What I did, and what I feel is best. Is tell him/her that you have found someone that you really want to study with, see what they can do for you. Be sure to compliment your former teacher, don't lie, but say something positive, then move into the fact that you ARE going to go study with them, to see what other things you can learn.

  4. if you really feel you are not learning from your teacher, then you should have no problem telling her so. She should be able to realize that something is not working, and that you could gain more under some other guidance.
