I am trying to think of a fun song for my students . . .?

I am teaching kindergarten this year and am trying to come up with a song about how to line up/walk in the hall. I have the ending, but I can't think of a way to begin the song. This is what I have:

No running, just walking.

Just whispers, no talking.

Whatch how we stand straight and tall.

Look! We're ready for the hall!

Any ideas?

  1. Dear Ms.Sara B. Here might be something you can use:

        Walking feet in the hall

         Lining up nice and tall

Hands by our sides and voices quiet

Show your best manners don't cause a riot

         Make yourself proud

Show all the school that Ms.B's Kinder class

           Will make others drool

  2. I'm sorry.  I give up.   Usually I can do these easily.

  3. I like the song you have. Its fun to me.Go with your song.I just sang your song to my little kindergarten and preschool cousins and they like it.They said for you to go with your original song too.

  4. Get up, line up

    Nice and slow

With your hands at your side

    and your feet below

That's all I have off the top of my head.  I normally teach 1st grade but taught Kindergarten summer school.  I found that lining up without looking (and acting) like a heard of elephants was one of the most challenging parts.  I also had them act like an animal in the hall....a new one each day but you could do it each week.  This kept them entertained.  Obviously a quiet animal...a bear looking for berries, a tiger sneaking up on prey, a fish, a snake (all they can say is ssssssssss)....

Bless you and have a great year.  Kindergarten teachers do so much, they are amazing.  It's wonderful to see how far they come from the begining of their kindergarten year when they come in to my 1st grade classroom.

  5. Here is a site with whole slew of hallway/line up songs!  Proteacher.net is something I stumbled upon a few weeks ago and have been loving it!

There are great songs for all ages that might give you ideas for the one you started, or you might find one that fits perfect!

    Good luck!
