I am trying to trace my grandad who was in the second world war.

He was a colonel all i know is he was a pow in japan helping to build the railways.

And died over there i don't know if he was ever brought back to the uk would appreciate any help thanks.

  1. its unlikely his body was brought back to the UK do you know what regiment he was in and his full name ?? if so the best people to contact are the Royal British Legion.

  3. Sounds like your grandfather was working on the faitful Burma Railway, the one on which many thousands died, including many thousands of Indian soldiers.

    If you've got your granfather's name, rank and military number, this next site will hopefully be useful.
