I had my first baby sep. 2005, after her, i went on the depo shot for a little over a year. i stopped the depo shot, and opted for no birth control since. i have yet to get pregnant and we have been trying for about six months now. I also have not had a period since i have been off the depo shot, (although, my periods before were never right.)

does anyone have any suggestions what i should be trying to do at this appointment today, what questions to ask, or what medicines i could ask about to maybe help us with ttc?

thank you all so much!! :)

  1. Well for starters if you're not have a period then you're not ovulating. A good thing to ask your doctor is how to begin a cycle for you, eg change in diet, things of that nature. A good fertility medicine that will help you ovulate, is Clomid. If you want to learn more about the medicine try www.webmd.com. Best of luck to you!!!!

  2. Well first of all you are not ovulating so you can not get pregnant, so you need to tell your doctor that you have not had a period since then, also you should be off the depo shot for at least one year to be fully out of your system other wise it can be harmful you/ and a baby/pregnancy. Your doctor will probably get you back on some kind of Birth control bill to try and get your body to have a period and a little more regulated, and then you'll go from there but it can take up to 1 yr. Good luck! *~*Baby*Dust*~*

  3. Okay I had fertility treatment with my 1st baby and wanted to try on my own with number 2 with no drugs. When I talked to my ob about not having a reg. period do to PCOS he told me about provera it's a pill used to help start a period. I also took a pill called Clomid which forces ovulation. But your dr. may want you to do the provera 1st to get your periods back on track and then see if other meds are needed. Turns out I was already preg. with #2 on my own and I did not even need the Dr. help!  Also don't let the Dr. blow you off or tell you just wait and see what happens TTC is hard as is and some people need help (I'm healthy and 25 so age and health does not always matter) let them know you really want to try something waiting may not do anything but waste more time. Other than asking about different drug options ask if they can suggest any tests to check for conditions like PCOS which is known to cause a woman's period to be very irregular. Finding out I had PCOS was a life saver being 25 and TTC for a year every Dr. was telling me keep trying your young you don't need help but when they found out I had PCOS that was another story turns out PCOS can be some women with PCOS don't get a period because they are not ovulating if you don't ovulate you won't get a period, it's impossible to get preg. with no ovulation or period. After I did treatment it took 2 weeks and I was preg. My son is 9 months old now and I'm expecting #2 in Jan 09!

  4. Only suggestion I have is to tell your doctor exactly what you just told us.  If he/she is a good doctor she will give you recommendations for helping you get pregnant.  6 months really isn't a long time to be trying (although I know it can seem like forever).  Just express how much you and yours would like to conceive, talk about the depo shot, and having no periods since stopping the shot.
