  1. Do you have the money to put down for a house and a good paying job? Just because your 18 doesn't mean you have to go out on your own. Buying a house is a better chocie that an apartment only if you know you can afford the payments and all the costs with it. Remember anything can break down and you will need the funds to fix it. Everything is so expensive. Good luck with whatever you chose.

  2. If you are renting, there are pros and cons to either...

house- you are responsible for lawn care, bigger utility bills.  But, it's private and no neighbors on top of you.

apt- no lawn care, small utility bills, but you can hear all your neighbors.

  3. have you thought about a townhome, would be a good investment in that you are not paying rent, but a mortage and building equity.  also would cut down on some expenses with lawn and outside maint issues.  a house or townhome is a great investment but comes with a lot of risk if you don't have a nice savings account for when the water heater goes out or a pipe bursts, or the heat stops working during a snow storm, with owning you will also have property taxes and HOA fees.  don't foget to count your homeowners or renters insurance  as well.

  4. My guess is prices will  stay low or lower for at least another year.  Some areas are different.  It is better to pay your monthly rent to yourself.  If you know you can afford it and you have no!!!!!! worry of losing your job.  Find a really good deal and go for it.  Do not take any loan that can reset!!!

  5. An apartment is always better if you haven't lived on your own yet.  Houses are a big responsibility, especially if you own it.  Apartments can be cheaper, with less responsibility.  Houses have more responsibility and cost more, but you may also feel like you are throwing you money away.  I say apartment.  I had two of them before my husband and I got a house.
