They want this done with and without dye. He is testing for MS. If that is negative he wants me to have a spinal tap. All of this is very expensive. I was interested in applying for medicaid but they want me to include my roommatess information. I am not really comfortable doing that considering our finances are separate aside from splitting the rent, the lease is in both of our names. Is it fraudulent not to include his information? If so and I cant be covered for Medicaid are there low cost insurance options for those with pre-existing conditions? I already tried Pennsylvania's adult basic I make just over the limit to be covered.

  1. If your roommate and you are a couple, yes it is fraudulent to not include his income, and rightfully so.  If between the two of you, you are over the income limits, why should we (our society) pay for your health care?  Sure, you could probably get over on the system, and no one would ever know if you simply did not say anything about the boyfriend, but that does not make it right.

If, in fact, you have separate bedrooms, and lead separate lives this is a very different scenario, and his income should not be considered.

  2. My first choice would be to work with a social worker working at the hospital in which your neurologist practices. The social worker/s there know about all sorts of programs in which you may qualify for, and can help you through applying.

Second choice, but one which is important for any future medical treatment: go through Medicaid. It is a pain in the rump- but it is necessary. It would be fraudulent not to include all financial information honestly. You seriously need to list what $ is coming and what $ is going - and where.

Best of luck to you in your decision & treatment!

  3. Check with the social services department of the hospital you most likely will receive your MRI at since they'd be the ones who would be receiving payment.  They should be able to help you.

    Good luck with your efforts!
