  1. If your computer is new or hasnt been updated recently the windows do software update / computer update has to catch up so it may take a while to catch up but it will soon stop

  2. Many users have Windows Updates set to Automatic and are finding that there are updates ready to be installed, when they install them they then get another round of updates ready to install. This is a problem with the Microsoft Updates and not the users machines.

I have turned OFF Automatic Updates as when I checked the update site the available updates ready for download were 0Kb in size and 0 minutes to download.

If users have this problem right click My Computer, select Properties then click the Automatic Updates tab and Turn OFF Automatic Updates.

Then proceed to Windows Update and select ‘Custom’ then click the ‘+’ beside each update. If it shows: Download size: 0 KB , 0 minutes then tick ‘Don’t show this update again’

This seems to apply when you have SP3 installed and the updates are for SP2, which have been included and installed in SP3.

Hopefully, MS will sort this out at some point, although I have emailed them several times about this and won't be holding my breath for a response.

  3. First : To enhanced computer security

Second : To fix some buggy in Windows XP

Third : It is like an anti virus , have daily update :)

If you want to stop update , turn off the automatic update in control panel and the disable the service of Automatic Update in Services in Administrative Tools.

I turn off my automatic update , lol :P

  4. u must have auto update turned on to stop it go to start>control panrl >security settings and turn auto update off(not recommended) or to notify me (recommended

  5. It's probably automatic updates.

For enhanced security, and to ensure that your computer always receives the latest updates in a timely manner, you should set up Automatic Updates so that it automatically downloads and installs critical updates as soon as they are released.

With Automatic Updates, Windows can routinely check for the latest important updates for your computer and install them automatically. These updates, which include critical updates and security updates, should be installed on your computer as soon as they are released, so that they can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats.

Automatic Updates finds all important updates for your computer, including security updates, critical updates, and service packs, and installs them automatically, so that you don't have to search for them or worry that some might be missing.
