I'm so mad right now, can you please help me take the right course of actions. ok, I'm taking classes at a four year college online because I'm currently disabled. During this fall semester I have called an received approval to take 2 classes at a nearby college. The approval was for college credits for 2 classes to transfer into my parent College once completed. Now, almost 3 weeks into class out of no where I receive an email through my school account saying that the class credits will not be accepted because the same classes are offered at my parent college. Now, lets remember...I have just spent money on tuition, books, and fees at the other college. Its going to be ugly tomorrow but can somebody tell me some of my rights or course of action to take...Before I ................

  1. First each school has their own transfer policy.

My understanding is that you sought (and were granted) approval from you on-line school to take the classes in question from a different school correct... Did you get that approval in writing? If you did submit that along with a written request to the Dean or Provost. It will be accepted. (if not contact the BBB better business bureau and their accreditation agency ASAP)

Second... What school are we taking about here? and Are they regionally accredited? Keep in mind that if they are nationally accredited your degree most likely wont be worth anything anyway and you will be hard pressed to find ANYONE to accept any credits you have as transfer.

  2. Some schools will not transfer classes or credits unless there is an agreement between them. This can be because the parent school does not feel the other school's curriculum is up to par with their standards, or vise-versa. I hope you received the approval in writing, otherwise you may be in a "he said/she said" situation where it's your word against theirs. Good luck though! And I agree with the advice to try and transfer to a brick-and-mortar institution, they are usually less expensive than career colleges or online universities.

  3. Why don't you transfer the online school classes to the real college? A degree from an actual college that has buildings will be more impressive anyway. The online school just wants your money.

  4. College forms and policies can be tricky and annoying, but there is always a way to get what you need done.  Since you already received permission, I would call the office that the letter came from and say, "I previously received permission from this person/department to do this.  I am willing to fill out a form if that is also required (sometimes a transient request form is required)."  If you still have difficulties, write an email stating essentially the same thing and the situation to whoever is higher than them.  Continue to do this until you either get the response you want or until you go as high up as you can.  I've had a similar situation before and although I ran into a few difficult people, it eventually was resolved.  Good luck.

  5. if its the same as the other school... why cant the except them? their the same class with the same description.... I love college but sometimes they be scamming... you better stay on their behinds,,, and whatever someone says take their names for evidence
