Where there's a will, the money will appear. Proper planning, ambition, innovativeness and  commitment are usually the reasons why not everyone can get rich. Money you can borrow, creativity and discipline you can't.

My boys the same way. He spent one summer traveling in Europe, he was 16 at the time. He bought the ticket then told me. I thought hard and long either he's going to make it or break it. He made it. Not having a lot of money we had some long talks. He made some good choices and talked about getting some degrees but no money, borrowed some and he tried out for "want to be a millionaire" made it and now is in the second year. At the moment taking the first semester in Costa Rica taking Political Science.. He's on the Deans list and I'm sure he will earn everything he gets. Your ambitious MAKE IT WORK. You got to be willing to put your *** on the line. Hard work now PLAY LATER Good Luck
