“I am very happy and excited to re-sign with the Yankees,” says Hiroki Kuroda
New York Yankees' newly re-signed starting pitcher Hiroki Kuroda is showing his enthusiasm to play again for the team where he finished with top numbers in the past season.
He finished with 3.32 ERA along with 16-11 win-loss, 167 strike-outs and 1.17 WHIP.
"I am very happy and excited to re-sign with the Yankees, I am very grateful for all of the interest and all of the offers that I received from the various teams that courted me. It was a tough decision for me to make, but at the end of the day, I wanted to try to win a championship with the teammates that I went to battle with last season," Kuroda said in a statement with detail.
Yankees’ GM Brian Cashman, “We’d like to get things done as quickly as we can, but it’s not always that easy, But we are excited to have reached a new deal with Hiroki.”
Japanese star performed wonderfully for the Yankees in 2012 Major League Baseball season. He showed good spirited performances and impressed many.
Earlier news came out in the media that Kuroda might sign with the Boston Red Sox and Los Angeles Dodgers however when the Yankees offered him a good deal, he could not resist but to accept it.
Kuroda, who is considered to be one of the best pitchers in the Major League, is originally from Japan and possesses large baseball experience.
His first Major League team was Los Angeles Dodgers while later he joined New York Yankees and is still playing with great energy.
The Yankees also observed his 2012 performance where he struck-out some 167 hitters which made them confident enough to give him another deal for a better future.
It was Kuroda’s offensive game that proved unplayable on many occasions. His extraordinary pitching landed the Yankees a post-season spot as well.
Not only the regular season, but the post-season also proved as great challenge for 37-year old. Experts believe that Kuroda’s resigning with the Yankees is a great sign as he will be giving his best to end to career on a high note.
