  2. That's right . . . . . go to a small local airport.  Most will have at least one person around who does flight instruction.

Be ready to PAY for it.  Nothing in aviation is free.

  3. Ernie,

Go to a local airport near you that has flight schools on the airport. Most small local airports have a few flight schools. Get information about the school, the type of aircraft they use for training, instructors experience, and the cost. Have them explain the whole process to you and how long it will take you with the amount of time you can dedicate to studying and to flight lessons. It will require dedication, and a lot of studying.

It's expensive and after you get your licenses it is still expensive so be sure this is something you really want to do.

If you would just like to see what it is like to fly an airplane then you can just purchase a few lessons to see what flying is like. I have recommended this to people and students who would like the experience of flying an airplane but don't want to do the whole process of getting a license.

    Good Luck,
