I think I will be there for about two weeks. I have family in the North, and everyone says that the West is not to be missed. Any help or ideas would be great - I'm just planning it all now. Also what is the weather like in Fall?

  1. The Gap of Dunloe is the most beautiful place on Earth!  Also, weather-wise, make sure to take long sleeves and short sleeves.  Regarding the weather in Ireland--there's a saying that "if you don't like the weather, wait 5 minutes" (it changes so frequently).  It feels as if you can go through four seasons in a day!  Pack accordingly!  And trust me, it will rain.

  2. Biological Gardens and Dublin Zoo, I can't wait till I give birth to get down there at the end of the summer :),

Also it doesn't take long to get to other parts of Ireland... It's only like 3 and half hours from Belfast to Dublin... so you don't have to just go see stuff in those locations, spread out a bit, go see the gaints causeway, the glens of antrim... and enjoy :)

  3. well this silly boy say's once you get to Dublin the whole island is there to be enjoyed, and I look foreword to see what shade of green your big sweater will be. slán.

  4. Do NOT miss Slieve League cliffs- the drive up there is terrifying, narrow road, no room to meet another car, sheer drop on one side, high rocks on the other.  Then you park and walk up a steep, rocky path- did I say walk?  I meant hike- and by the time you get the top, you're winded, sore, tired, and feel teh most alive you've ever felt in your life.  These Cliffs put the Cliffs of Moher to shame.

  5. County Mayo towns & villages.

Cong - Known for the John Wayne & Maureen O'Hara film "The Quiet man"

Westport - one of the nicest small towns in Ireland. Great pubs.

Achill Island (joined to the mainland by a bridge) - rural Galic speaking area with great sea views.

    The North -

The Antrim coast road from Larne to Portrush - best in Ireland.

This passes the Giants Causeway, The Glens of Antrim, Carrick-arede (rope bridge to a small island), Bushmills (whiskey).

From Portrush to Derry - Mussenden Temple at Downhill overlooking Migilligan Strand (beach).

The temperature in the fall would be on average 14c and mostly cloudy.
