I am going down to see my boyfriend at his tech school in Biloxi, Mississippi this fall and am trying to figure out places to stay. I did not know if he is able to stay with me after a certain time frame. And if he is allowed to stay off base with me, how far away from the base can he be (does he have certain distance requirements)? Is there any other rules or regulations that I should be aware of when making this trip? Any extra information would be great!

  1. That depends.

If he is in Phase I (first 28 calendar days of tech school), he will be very restricted in the time he can spend with you and cannot go off-base.  It should be noted that this requirement does vary from base to base and from command to command.

During Phase II (through the 45th calendar day of tech school), he can travel a maximum of 25 miles from the base. He must be in uniform at all times. He cannot stay off-base overnight; his curfew Sunday-Thursday is 2200 to 0400; Friday through Saturday it is 2400 to 0400.

During Phase III, he can travel up to 150 miles on weekends.  He'll have a curfew of 2200 to 0400 Sunday through Thursday, but no curfew on Friday or Saturday nights.

If anyone in his flight (training group) misbehaves, however, the entire group can be "phased back," which means that even if he's technically in Phase III, if someone is caught doing something against the rules - ie, consuming alcohol if they're under 21 - the entire group can be returned to Phase I.
