What are the best places to visit in and around DC during this time of year? Anything that is easily accessible by bus or metro would help?

  1. The National mall and the museum in this order:

    Holocaust Museum,Air and Space, National Gallery (FREE).

    The Memorials\Monuments

    Washington Monuments (make sure you get ticket online or early morning), LicoLincolnfferson, FDR (FREE)....

    Go to GeroGeorgetownk around the harbharbord Wisconsin Ave and M St where you can grab lunch or dinner!!!

    A lot of great restrestaurantsund Dupont Circle area...

    The Smithsonian Museums are great (and free!).  There is the National Gallery of Art, the American Indian Museum, the Museum of Modern Art, the Air and Space Museum...

    Also, the Newseum just re-opened and is great.  The Spy Museum is also really interesting.  

    You have to see the monuments - the Washington Monument, the Jefferson Memorial, the Lincoln Memorial, as well as the Vietnam Memorial, Korean War Memorial, FDR Memorial, the Iwo Jima Memorial and Arlington Cemetery.

    Georgetown is fun, and the National Cathedral is fantastic.  

    Just be careful - tourists are magnets for pick-pockets or scam artists.  You don't need to purchase maps to the Smithsonian Museums - you can get them for free at each museum.
