  1. If you look for just ordinary/ non-celebrity people, I highly recommend to go to East Village or Lower-East Side, where most local people hang out.  People are friendly and you can just start talking to people and see if they are interested in.

  2. The best answer to this is someone (or someones) who actually have something interesting to say about the city. Google New York City Borough Presidents. There are 5 of them. I live in Brooklyn - and Marty Markowitz is one of those chearleaders for the city who has made some awesome contributions to our borough.

There's nothing saying you can't interview one of them. Make sure you talk to their secretaries and set something up ASAP.

If this doesn't work, interview the manager of Macys or Sax on 5th and ask how their business has been effected by the sloping economy.

  3. The Waldorf isn't the most expensive and I think people who stay at the best hotels (St Regis, Ritz etc) would be willing to talk to strangers.  Plus, the hotels might throw you out if you're not a guest there.

Try the food court at Grand Central Station.  There are always people there and if they're shopping for food they have the time to talk to someone, and they're more approachable.

Try a McDonalds or other fast food w/dining area.

Offer people a $10 Starbucks gift card to be interviewed.

Try interviewing the people waiting to see the Today show (ya gotta get up early but those are friendly crowds).  Hold your clipboard and dress nicely and they may think you're with the network.

And don't look desperate--looking desperate always drives people away.

    Good luck!

  4. Sit in the lobby of the Waldorf Astoria.  It's the most expensive hotel.  Someone famous or rich should come down.  Or any other expensive hotel.  If this is a big interview, contact an agency and ask for a clients contact information.  Good Luck and Have Fun!

  5. I'm available, the quintessential New Yorker.
