  1. Every Bank I went to there had ATM's and they would accept either currency everywhere. But be prepared for long waits at the banks, they rush for no one.

  2. Do it in C.R., daily...it's fairly easy, and you DO NOT want to carry large amounts of cash.  Lots of theft there.

  3. Last time I was there they took US money everywhere.  So don't bother changing it.

  4. Some of the ATM's are a pain to use.  Sometimes they don't work right, or have huge lines.  I usually change a small amount of money at the hotel as I leave each morning and take one credit card with me.  If you are not good at quick math, I would exchange money or use the card, because you run the risk of getting hustled on the exchange rate for your change.  The math is not bad though.  Its about $5 = 10,000 colones.

Also, make sure you don't wear any jewelry out around the city, and if you can help it, don't use a wallet or purse.  Crime is not that bad in most parts, but better to be safe than sorry.

  5. I always use the cash machines in banks.(debit card)..........check to see if your card has the right number of digits.............ask the company the phone .number is on  the back of the card...........

  6. Dont bother exchanging it... you will just waste your money.

DO NOT take anything over a $20 bill... and your US dollars will be accepted everywhere, at a good exchange rate. Change will be given in calones.

Have a great time! I cant wait til my next trip next summer.

  7. When ever I travel I just put everything on my card they handle the exchange rates and leave me with my shopping

  8. ATM's Credit cards and Banks do not exchange in US airports as rates are very poor
