I was just wondering, can I enlist whenever I turn 17, ( which is in 4 months ) and if I do enlist when I turn 17 what will happen? What will I end up doing? Will a marine recruiter help my train, and prepare me for Boot Camp?

  1. Hey check out this web site maybe it will help.

    Become A Marine

  2. Depends on if you are in your senior year of highschool or not. If you are 17 and in your senior year then yes. I enlisted in sept 2000 and had about a year in the DEP. All that does, is in turn eliminate time off of your IRR time. Either way Your time will come. If you want it bad enough then go for it! ask lots of questions. Start getting in awesome shape, learn about the corps and go do it. Do you have any idea of what you are getting yourself into as far as infantry goes??

  3. you really need to talk to a recruiter to find out what ill happen.

    have you finish hs?

sometimes there are programs where you can go to bootcamp one summer go back and graduate from hs and then go back into training for your schools.

I would suggest you first reseach what you want to do in the Marines. Do you want to do infantry? or is there another MOS you want? you need to know exactaly what you want when you walk in there. they are very good at convincing you to do other things. you have to be strong minded.

the recruiter should help you train for your pft tests. pushups, pullup and running. as for boot camp, they will get you into training! remember you arent a Marine until you graduate from boot.

you will be fine going into boot as long as you are not overweight and are able to pass the pft. basically that is what boot camp is all about, they break you down to build you back up. they dont expect you to be the best when you walk through those doors.

  4. You need to go sit down with a recruiter so they can go over any and all questions you have and let you know whether or not you're qualified...

You need to be 17 and have parental consent to enlist. If you're still in school you will enlist into the DEP (Delayed Entry Program) where you'll keep in touch with your recruiter, network with other Marine poolees, and prep for boot camp.
