  1. well you could do what the show "clean house" does,

you could really try to get rid of things u dont need

and have a yardsale, then with the money

buy good stuff instead of old junk (:

  2. I have the same problem and this worked so well for me. First off only do one room at a time (and if thats still to nerve wrecking one area of a room at a time). After choosing the room or area make three piles, one of things you've used in the last 3-6 months or so (these are things you will keep), one of things you've used in the last year or so (these will be put in easy access storage like crates and bins in the basement or even in the bedroom) and one of things you havent used in a little over a year (these are more permanent storage that you might put in an attic or garage lets say) anything beyond the 1.5-2 year mark that isnt essential for life.. you close your eyes and trash it!!!!!! then next time move on to the next room. As the months progress monitor whether or not you used the stored items, i.e things in the one year box, after 6 more months if they havent been used they graduate to the one year box, things in the one year box that go unused get trashed. TRUST ME THIS WORKED! and doing it in stages eases the mental and physical exhaustion of cleaning like this.

  3. ugh.. just c4 everything..

  4. If you have not used it in a year get rid of it

  5. Oh gosh!  I have that same problem.  I moved from a big house to a smaller house when I got divorced.  I have boxes and boxes of stuff stored in my basement.  Its all good stuff, and I really don't want to part with it.  I've always heard that if you don't use it in 6 months, then its time to get rid of it.  Your clutter is in your living area though.  What I would do is, get 3 boxes.  Mark one, "throw out", the other "save" and another "donate".  Go around the room and place items you don't use in one of those boxes.  Once you're done, look around the room and see if there's anything else you might want to get rid of.  And don't forget to notice how nice the room looks with all the stuff out of there.  And think about how easy it will be to clean and keep clean!!!  I always donate my "stuff" to the Salvation Army or to the local women's shelter.  If you have a Salvation Army near by, you can take the items up there and drop them off.  Make sure you fill out the donation sheet they provide you with, so you can deduct it at the end of the year when you're doing your taxes.  They may be able to pick up your donated items too, if you can't get the stuff to them.  You can get more info at www.salvationarmy.com.   Each day work on a room.  Focus on what you don't want to look at, or what you don't want to clean.  That should make it easier to get rid of the stuff.  Keep thinking about how nice it will be to have that stuff out of the house and how easy it will be to keep the house clean!  You will feel a HUGE weight lifted off of you!  Good luck and I hope this helped.

  6. Im just like you but over some time I've managed to develop a system in which I take a good evaluation of all of my things, clothes, shoes, purses, coats, electronics etc etc and if I havent used it within the past year it GOES!!!

At first I got nervous, but I realized if I havent used it in a year the chances of me using it this year or next are slim to none!!!

And I donate all the old items to the Salvation Army for a tax deduction!!!

  7. O.K....I just went through this recently and I hope I can be of help.  I started in the closets and anything we have not worn in the last 2 years went into a box...mark the box for good will and get another for garbage, stuff that is not fit for anyone to wear.  In the kitchen and baths do the same thing garbage bags for old hair products, out of date scripts and stuff you just don't use anyone...toss all of this.  Clean your fridge and cabinets doing the same thing.  Move to the garage, you may need help with this one, but make a space for stuff that you want to keep.  Get boxes and label for the treasures you just can't give away.  Take the rest of the bags and boxes and get rid of right away.  You will feel so good after the job is done!  Good Luck.

  8. i had the same problem what i did was i got rid  of everything  that i didn't feel a connection with or that was replaceable    everything else i kept

  9. Job related, I had to move sometimes 2 or 3 times a year, for several years.  If I hadn't unpacked a box in 2 moves, I tossed it, without a backward glance or thought.  Never missed a thing.  Something I need to do right now is to get boxes and pack up stuff that's in my way.  Haven't opened it in a year, it's gone.  My friend has stuff all over that she's constantly packing up into boxes, then she won't toss the boxes.  We're talking about everything her mother, her brother and she ever owned.  The plumber and electrician object to working for her because they have to move so much stuff to do the job.  Her garage is full and it's starting to spill over into my rent house.  I'll take care of my stuff, then give her some lessons.  Grandpa's law books from the 1930's may be important to somebody, but not to her.

  10. think about what you have used or appreciated(like art or something) in the last year. If you haven't done anything with it for a year chances are slim that you will miss it in the near future. As soon as it is gone you will probably forget it. You might regret getting rid of a few things in the future but it is better than keeping EVERTHING!
