  1. We protect the flooring under our appliances with Abzorb mats (plus we use them in pet areas and other rough patches -- under grill outside, on garage floor).

    Check them out here:

(no affil. so ask about rolls, sizing, etc. there):

  2. Any thing you do on a laminate floor will scratch it That is the way it is. I would never recommend floors like that unless you only look at them

  3. Yes it will. I own a wood flooring business. When I need to move a refrigerator I like to use two sheets of Formica about 8" wide. They're easy to slide in and out under the refrigerator wheels and will protect the floor from scratching and indentations.

  4. It could. There are a couple of things that you can try though.

    1. Cut a couple of pieces of the flooring that are long enough to go from a front leg to the one behind it. Make sure all four legs are on boards. These boards should be up side down so you have a smooth surface on a smooth surface.

    2. Cut a couple of pieces of new carpet and do the same thing.

    3. Use a two wheel truck to move it.

    4. There are straps that you could probably get from a truck rental place that are made just for moving heavy furniture.

    5. Carpet installers use a special strap that is made of silicone plastic that are about six or eight feet long. They will easily slide over any surface without damaging it.

    Good luck.

  5. From experience, it WILL SCRATCH!!!

Laminate flooring also has either a composite wood base.  (essentially sawdust and glue), or a plywood base  (thin sheets of wood glued together).  These materials are soft and will dent, thus leaving impressions in the floor.

Also both of these materials do not hold up to water.  They swell and separate.  I would not recommend either of these products in a kitchen.

You should think about alternative flooring for a kitchen.
