I am wanting to go back to school to become a nurse. ?

I know I need to take the pre requisite courses is it possible to do all of these classes online. Anyone have any experience doing this?

  1. Most prerequisites such as math, English, history, etc. can all be taken online. Some nursing classes that only require rote memorization will probably be offered as well.


  2. Most public universities and especially community colleges have online and cable courses.  I know here in Hawaii there are 30 courses for nursing available, and they are working on more distance-learning.  Check with your CCs and main university.  These programs are accredited and of course much cheaper than for-profit colleges.  There are some clinical requirements that must be done, but mostly the pre-reqs and even the nursing academic courses can be done online.  

    Some nursing schools are requiring that applicants get a CNA license, which is a good idea since the first semester of nursing school covers the same material (lifting and moving patients, safey and hygiene procedures, medical terminology etc.).  

  3. In my area, you can take all prerequisites online, except speech and you have to come for labs in A&P.
