I am wanting to know how a TTY works and what 'Keywords' are used?

I am currently studying AUSLAN (Australian Sign Language) and am needing to know about TTY's and also what 'different' words are used e.g. ga = go ahead, and also is the wording similar to what you would use if sending an SMS? I need to know as many 'words' as possible. I hope someone is able to assist me and also I am wanting to know if there is anywhere in Western Australia where you can possibly buy a second hand TTY?
