  1. I would look into purchasing an existing school or getting involved in a franchise. This will help with the insurance. Insurance is ridiculously expensive. Make that your first item to research.

    Good Luck!

  2. My sister recently did this. Be sure you know what you are doing. Be familiar in the childcare world-licesening rules and regulations. Hire people with childcare experience!

  3. As previously posted, insurance is a great place to start. If the insurance company is going to have you jumping through hoops to be insured, you may find the costs overwhelming. An existing franchise will have done much of the work for you. If you do choose to start from scratch research the Fire, Public Health and Ministry guidelines in your area to ensure the space you are hoping to use will be acceptable adn pass all requirements. Making alterations to existing space or even building appropriate space from scratch can be very costly and there are lots of rules to be followed. Do you have your ECE? If not, find someone with their diploma who can help you navigate through all the Ministry guidelines. They will have learned them in school and can help things go smoothly.  In Ontario, anyway you will need someone with an ECE to supervise your centre if you wish to be licensed, so hiring this person will be a benefit in the long run.

    Good luck!

  4. yeah the first thing to do is get the applications. next teach them their ABC's and Numbers.you also need to read them stories.then tell them them the sounds of the ABC.

  5. May i suggest learning the Montessori curriculum teaching guide books.  You'll find all the answers for teaching children in a preschool using the Montessori method.

    Visit the website --> http://www.montessori-book.com/

  6. eHow has information at http://www.ehow.com/how_2063851_start-da...

    You can open a preschool without a degree, but you should at least have get certified as a Child Development Associate (CDA). See http://www.cdaclass.org/

    As an early childhood teacher myself who is serious about the profession, I would urge you to go to college and earn your degree in early childhood education focusing on babies and preschool age children, and take some classes in business (finance) and developmental psychology, safety, first aid and CPR, etc., classes that will prepare you to run a center. There are so many things that teachers need to know in order to make sure that they are contributing academically and psychologically to the growth of the children in their care. Plus, you're going to have hard time getting financing to run a center if you have no experience or a weak business plan. If you're doing it in your home, you still need some experience working with children before people will trust you. While you are in high school, you may be able to volunteer in some day care centers to get an idea of what goes on their. You may consider interviewing the people who run the center. Some of these people have been teaching for years or they have degree in education, social work or business administration.

    You'll also need to know what your philosophy is going to be, how to design a curriculum, how to select the appropriate resources, etc. It will take more information and maturity and dedication but I see no reason why you can't start one in a few years (but go to college first). A good preschool education is hard to get, make sure yours is the best business it can be. Good luck!
