I am wanting to start an organization that allows people to go around to schools and talk to them about...?

and things of that nature

my question is how would i go about getting this started?

~GET A TEAM~ Gather People, and make a name for your organiztion

~ADVERTISE~make flyers send them to different schools, churches, put ads in paper, call local places. etc

~MAKE A PRESENTATION~ like a slideshow or a brochure that you can present. Maybe get your hands on some type of video about peer pressure, or drugs.

~GET ACTIVE & IN TOUCH~ get in touch with the local police station so they can give you ideas on how to present statistics, and what laws are against different uses.

~GET OUT THERE~ and become leaders and be ready to  answer a lot of questions.!

Start with a local school administrator that you have some connection with. Take her/him to lunch to pick their brains on what they feel they need and what the issues are.

You need to appeal to the schools with this program yet connect with the kids but you dont get in to the school without filling a need to the administrator.

Then you need to write a "business plan" . Focus on finding one program to take your organization on to build success and then expand. Is it going to be a non -profit? You will need a 503(c) tax free status letter from the IRS. If not a non profit you will need a tax id#, apply via irs.gov.

It's a great idea. There are programs out there but Lord knows we need as many chances to reach a kid on 'their level' as we can get. There are lots of confused and frustrated kids out there.
