  1. The colors you are talking about are on the light itself?  The white bolts to the metal frame of the trailer, usually by putting it under the lights attachment bolts.  Then the brown trailer wire connects to the "black" lead.  Then depending on which light you are replacing, there should be a yellow or green wire on the trailer.  The red lead will connect to that wire.  If your tow vehicle has "separate yellow turn signals", you might need an adapter to make this work correctly.  Most marina shops can do this for you, at a nominal charge.

  2. Brown to black (tail lights) yellow to red (turn signal, should be left turn signal in yellow wire) White to black ( ground)

Black is not a normal color for the ground on a trailer, so get a test light and check the wires first.

On trailer wiring, brown should be tail light, yellow or green should be turn signal and brake lights (yellow-left green-right )and white should be ground.

On the light itself, it should be black is tail light, red is brake and turn signal and white is ground.

  3. Any way you want, But red is hot wire, black is ground,  white wire is ground. It will matter how to towing vehicle is wired. You will have tail light and tag light, brake light, and turn signal lights.Trailer do not usually have back up lights. It has been a long time since I have wired a trailer for lights. you usually have a 3,5,or 7 wire system. use the black wire for Tail light, and any marker lights and tag light. use the black wire as a light ground back to the towing vehicle. use the white wire from trailer ground to towing vehicle ground. Some  use the hitch as ground, but a hare wire d ground is better. You can split the brake lights and turn signal, if your vehicle is wired that way. or you can use one on the left over wire color for brake lights, and the other to for turn singles if you have a separate turn single lights. There is a color control chart for trailer wiring, but I have for gotthen it
