I know when I was growing up, everybody had babies, lots of them. I'm pretty old, my mom had her first when she was 21 years old. Back then everyone had babies and everyone was the same age. Do you think that has anything to do with it?

  1. believe me, there were infertile couples around when you were growing up, but no one talked about it. It was usually blamed on the woman, and used to be grounds for divorce.

  2. I'm sure age has a lot to do with it. Many women are holding off on having kids only to discover that it's much harder or impossible to conceive. Not for all but many.

  3. I have PCOS as well.  It started affecting me around 10 years of age.  I was a thin very muscular kid until then.  I am overweight because of the PCOS.  I fight like h**l for every pound i loose.  And continue to fight to keep it off.  I was ignored by dr's for years.

So to put the fat old fat old response at rest my chances for conceiving at 18 were not much different than they were at 30.  Thanks to the PCOS i also had to have a hysterectomy at age 32, it was either that or fight cancer.  So you know i'd rather be fat and cancer free, than thin and dead.  I think i'm a better parent to my child by being alive, thank you.

I wonder about the PCOS.  It blows my mind how many woman have it.  And i want to know why?  I have met many women from many walks of life who are affected by this disease.  At it's worst it can be a very debilitating disease and affects so many women out there.  I am curious if anyone's looked into why women of my age group are so commonly diagnosed with PCOS in any form.  It's too common of a disease to be genetic in my opinion.  I know people who have it, that no one in their family shows any signs of it, but are simply of my age group.

From personal experience i would say that PCOS is probably the number 1 cause of why a woman can't conceive.

What i would like to know is WHY so many woman have PCOS.  I ate healthy as a kid, still do.   I was very active and still am.  The great outside was my nintendo as a child.

I just spent an afternoon walking the zoo with my daughter.  I ate a garden burger and steamed broccoli for lunch.  This is normal for me.  Yet i am still fat.  So say what you want about weight, make ignorant judgements about it.  But for me personally I think more time should be spent finding out why so very many women suffer from this disease.

  4. people put work and careers before having kids.  they are too old, so they need other people's kids.

  5. I really feel like it is an age thing.  I think our bodies are ready to start having babies in our early twenties and those of us that waited until they were 35 or so just have trouble.

  6. If you look at the "Dear Birthmother" letters on adoption sites, you'll notice a lot of the same:

    fat.old.fat.old.fat.old.fat.old.fat.ol...

Old: no eggs or bad eggs

    Fat: Hormones messed up

  7. Maybe some of the top directors of agencies also have/had a hand in marketing over the counter drugs once found to make women and men infertile. Create the demand, and then supply the market. Just a hunch.
