I am worried about my Robo Dwarf Hamster?

My Robo Dwarf Hamster isn't running on his wheel and isn't climbing at the top of the cage and gnawing on it anymore. He also tried to bite me today when I petted him. He usually allows me to. What should I do? What's going on? My poor baby! Help!

  1. Hamsters have bad days like us too and would behave bitey on those days. However just make sure there are no other signs of sickness in your hamster and he is eating and pooping properly since hamsters can also bite if they are sick or in pain.

Hamsters also get bored of doing the same thing everyday just like us humans and tend to become lethargic. Creativity is the key to making them play actively everyday.

    Some simple tricks are -

Spread his food and hide treats in her bedding instead of putting food in a food dish. This would make him burrow and search for food instead of eating mechanically from his food dish.

Each time you arrange the cage after cleaning, arrange things differently from the last time. This would make it more interesting for your hamster to look around and rediscover things in the cage again and make him more active.

Give her a variety of toys to play with like empty toilet toll tubes, toothpaste cartons with flaps cut off or even hollowed out plastic balls (non toxic plastic should be used).

Make a hamster proof room area where he can roam around freely with no danger of escaping. One idea is the bath tub in your house - dry it out completely, plug the drain hole and make him roam in the tub.

  2. Maybe he is loss of energy. When ever they are tired they get lazy and are grumpy and bite ya!
