I am worried about shaving my pubic hair...

I want to know if after I shave for the first time, if I decide to stop shaving, will the hair return to normal as in length and speed or growth or will this be altered. I am really worried about this and I can't decided whether to shave or not because I am worried that the hair will be different forever. Help me!
