  1. Go to your local City Hall they should be able to help you out.My City Hall is where I had to go in order to get my Water started.

  2. just call the water, electric, gas people in your area

  3. You have to set up accounts with each of these utilities in your town. Go to the local electric company and tell them you want to get power turned on. The same with each one; gas company, phone company and the others. Most of them will charge a deposit of some sort. All you have to do is look them up in the phone directory. Hopefully you have someone to help you because you should already know how to do this if you are intelligent enough to be buying a home.

  4. Your builder makes all the connections and adds the meters and runs the lines.  Before you move in you need to contact the utility companies that service your area to turn on the power, the water, the gas and provide cable for TV and land lines for the phone if you want them.

  5. Congradulations on your first house.......Ask your realitor to get you the information

  6. The house should have all the mechanical connections

required for the items you mention for it to be legally sold as a residence.

It's just a matter of contacting the utilities involved and opening accounts.

In most cases, the services will already be turned on, and it's just a matter of transferring the accounts to your name.

Do be sure to get the required numbers at your closing.

Also at closing, be sure that you're not left with the previous owners unpaid utility bills.

Your Lawyer should handle this as part of his service.

  7. Just call your local electricity, gas, and water suppliers in your area. All you do is tell them you would like service in your home. Ask a friend or neighbor which company they use so you know which companies are reliable.
