I applied for a Schengen visa at the German Consulate in New York. I was told I could pick it up on Nov. 20...

Does this mean my visa application was already approved or is there a chance I may still not get it? Also, I only told them I was going to Frankfurt and Munich, but now I want to go to either Paris or Barcelona too. I asked for multiple entries but they might give me single entry. In that case, can I still go to another country? Would there still be border inspections within the Schengen countries? Thanks!

  1. 1) Schengen visa processing time usually is 10 to 14 days depending on the nationality, and some times some countries ask more time.

    2) 'PICK IT UP' on the 20 doesn't mean you'll get the visa, but if you have presented all the necessary papers that prove you'll leave Europe then I don't see any problem. if it is your first time you apply then the multiple visa I see it on 50/50.

    3) You can go any where in Europe schengen states,(if no restrictions are issued) but your first entry must be an airport or port of the visa issuing state. See it is rare but some countries may deny your entry so the visa can read as follow 'ALL SCHENGEN EXCEPT BELGIUM AND LUXEMBOURG' something like this.

In your case you get your visa from the German Embassy you must enter Europe through a German port then move where ever you want as per the validity.

  2. You will only get a single entry visa and this is perfectly fine for your purpose. The single entry is for one entry into the Schengen zone, meaning once inside the zone you can visit any of the countries as many times as you wish until your visa expires.

If you leave the Schengen area with a single entry visa, you are not permitted to return.

There are no land boarders within the Schengen zone.

So to answer your question, you will be fine to travel Germany (Frankfurt and Munich), France and Spain - you could even return back to Germany if you wanted to - all with a single entry visa.

  3. i have never seen police inspector on the border between france and germany,denmark,belgium,luxembourg...the way from germany to netherland neither...BUT the way from amsterdam to germany YES! bec some people from the open city amsterdam carrying illegal drugs...and that's why they control for!!!
