Does calling speed up the process? I mean, what is the purpose of calling? You either fit the bill or you don't, no?

  1. I cant believe that a 'office manager' has advised you that 'after a couple of weeks then you probably wont get call back...

All companies have a different system - some will advertise in numerous places so that they attract interest from many people, so they will allow all the applications to come in before inviting people in for interview.

I would advise you not to call, especially if you havnt been interviewed yet - and I would also suggest that in the mean time you apply for many different jobs.  That way you have a better chance of finding you dream job.

    Good luck

  2. Depending on how efficient the HR department is it could be just that they are taking their time getting organized. Keep applying to other jobs in the meantime. It can sometimes take 2-3 weeks before they get back to you.

  3. i would wait for 1 more week before calling if you really want the job. i am still getting call backs from previous interviews as far back as 3 months ago.lol

  4. I agree with Bette.  It is early to draw that conclusion.  But keep applying multiple places and call each one after about a week to ten days to follow up.

Remember that most people who interview and make hiring decisions are typically very busy with a lot of other responsibilities as well, so you have to be patient.

  5. Not necessarily.  But you should always apply for multiple jobs, if you're seriously looking.  Most companies get many more applications than they actually consider, so you don't always hear back.

After another week, it's probably a no.
