Ever sense my grandmother has passed from cancer I have been thinking about her and wanting to help others with the cancer I know I do no want to be a nurse because I do get attached to easily and if I was to lose a patient it would kill me just like it did when my grandmother had passed.. I was wondering what are some good careers for a person who is interested in helping with cancer in anyway shape and form and I would like some input... please and thank you!

  1. I think if you have the compassion and abilities to become a nurse, you should still think about it. Yes, you will lose patients, but I think it will come to a point where you will be able to handle that. I would love to have a nurse who cares that much about me, but can still step back and be the professional who is needed.

You could look into being on the staff of a hospice. They need nurses, counselors and all kinds of workers. You could be a social worker there or in a hospital.

You could also be a physical, occupational or speech therapist for someone who has overcome cancer and needs therapy to continue to get better.

Good luck to you! I bet your grandmother will be looking down and helping you as you move forward in life. :)

  2. How about biology/science/research?  If you have enjoyed science classes, that may be the right field for you.
