  1. the cats and kittens at the shelter that I volunteer at have an adoption fee of $100 each. but included in the price is full vaccines, spay or neuter, de worming, flea treatment, tested for FLV and FIV and micro-chipped- all in all that is an excellent price for a pet that has already been fully vetted, plus a return clause in the contract that we will take the cat back at any time if things do not work out or if you can no longer keep or care for your pet. You get a discount adoption fee for senior cats and cats with special needs.

the whole P.O. Box thing sounds like a kitten mill :o(

  2. You can usually report places like that to SPCA's. That would probably be a start. Although, the cost could be to cover fees such as spay/neuter and shots.

You can also "adopt" kittens from the paper and such for free, sometimes they have their shots and everything already. You can also check and see if there are any kittens available thru craigslist.org in your area.

    Good luck!
