I asked about a bathtub faucet leaking and got some answers but?

Question

I do mean I replaced the seat which is inside the valve I used a special tool from a plumbing supply one year ago, this time I thought since only 1 yr I could replace the washer but did not work so I replaced the valve stem. do you still think if is the seat again?

Stop and look where the leak is comming from. Assuming you have a nut with the stem through it, if its leaking around thew stem and the hole in the nut A new upper washer and /or packing may be needed.

If its dripping out the faucet you will probably have to change the seat and washer again. Just because its a year old dosnt mean its ok. If you can ask when you go to a replacem,et seat ask if there is anything other than brassyou can purchase, or stay away from chromed seats all together they have a chrom plate on the out side and it will flake off and pit thus wearing out your washer.
