Following speculations that Virender Sehwag was dropped from the national squad for the upcoming Asia Cup, despite the fact that the BCCI confirmed that the player had been rested, the opening batsman has cleared the air and told the media that he asked
for a rest himself.

“I have back spasms. I need some rest,” he said. “I have never kept my team management in the dark as far as fitness is concerned. My injury is open for everyone to see. I have never hidden my injury before, or fitness problems.”
