I asked her and she just said no ((like a million times)) and then said that is a rodent.((she doesn't even like bunnies!)) so i tried to explain rodents aren't bad, but she cut me off and just said no again. I'm going through some really tough times and i would love to have a little pet that was all mine and that i could cuddle with. I know how to take care of hamsters and i have the money to buy it and pay for food and bedding when needed. i couldn't say i'd keep it in my room because my sister and i share a room. I was thinking about writing her a letter and explaining everything about hamsters, but i'm afraid she'll get mad. I don't know what to do!

  1. why not get a cockatiel... their very lovavle bird and they inexpensive and some can even learn to talk and most mimic whistling

  2. Well I hate to say it but if mom says no your kinda stuck on the no.   You really cant cuddle a hamster anyways.

  3. Hm, I'm not sure how to help with that.  I think that if you are responsible and that you know about their care, she should take your feelings into consideration.  However, I don't think that hamsters make very good pets... I had a sweet gentle hamster but they can be nasty.  What about a couple guinea pigs?  Guinea pigs are nice gentle animals, maybe if you could visit a shelter with your mom and see the pigs available she would fall in love with it and change her mind.  They also tend to live longer than hamsters.  I hope she says yes, but if you get a piggy please make sure you've read all about their care, we want him around for a long time.  And, it's best to adopt two pigs, because piggies are very social animals and get lonely and depressed by themselves.  Don't forget to adopt from a shelter, save a piggy's life.  Ask your mom to take a look at the boards and read the answers here... good luck :)

  4. Well, honestly, if she is that persistent about saying no...she means no. If she doesnt like rodents, she doesnt like rodents, you cant change that. So I say, just drop the subject. She may bounce back and realize you're being very mature, but maybe not.

    Good Luck!

  5. same thing happend with my mom!!! i just let it go for a week then told her again. letters dont really help i tried that to. i volentere at the animal shelter and she gave in there. maybe shell just have to see it. and see you hold it and stuff like that. get a teddybear hamster the other oneas are mean. also try to get one thats a baby thats wheni gt mine and he thinks im his mom!!

  6. Go and buy one anyway.  Keep it hidden from her.

  7. just make the letter really polite. explain to her if she had to do anything for the hamster or had to pay anything, you would have to do something for her (ie dishes for a month) ask her what makes the hamsters so disgusting to her and ask that on yahoo answers. i'll try to find a solution for your mom's fears.

  8. if your rooms not clean and your mom says your rooms never clean just say i dont want him to die in my messy room.so you both win

  9. You should listen to her. Maybe if you ask again and she says no say Sorry for asking , no means no I know. Maybe she will realize how responsible you are and suprise you with one.

  10. ever considered something other than a hamster?
