Question:

I assign ip address 192.168.1.2 in windows vista business edition.but after i shutdown,it goes to obtain ip?

it automatically goes to obtain ip address automatically and my internet does not work..every time i have to asssign the ip address and access n/w.pls help

I wouldn't be surprised if that address wasn't reserved by your router or something on your network.  Try assigning 192.168.1.210 or 192.168.1.110.  If you can check your DHCP range, assign an IP address that is not within your DHCP range but try to make the last number in the IP address ABOVE 99.  I've always considered it best practice on a home network where there are not a lot of machines connecting.
