I ate a plant and it tasted sweet, but then it burned my throat?

I was curious to eat a plant. This plant tasted quite good, but soon afterwards, It stung badly. Drinking water only made it hurt worse. Ever since that day, I have wondered what that was. Does it sound like something you know of?
