I baby sit this little girl and she does something weird?

shes only one years old a 25 months, everytime I put her to bed I let her hold on to her dolly and like usually when i sit beside her and watch tv she would put the doll under her and start rubbing up and down against it. My mom thinks its just thats how she falls asleep but I find it so strange.

Any suggestions on this weird habit of her's?

If you are having to ask this question, something is wrong. A child THAT young doesn't normally do things like that. She HAS learned it. The question is: WHERE? Did she see it? Was this something acted on on her?

I think you need to report it anonymously to CPS. If there is nothing to it, they will find nothing.

Some children will rub their genitals to help them fall asleep, it does not mean that anything is wrong or any abuse is taking place. I used to work in a daycare where a child would use their blanket for the same purpose.

Some children use pacifiers to help them fall asleep, others suck their thumb, and some rub their genital area. Children often use this to relieve stress and wind down.

It is not abnormal or anything to be concerned with. masturbating in toddlers is quite common, and does not always mean that someone is teaching it to them, or touching them inappropriately.

I would like to add, that if in any way you do feel as if this child is being abused, please notify children's services immediately. There are many websites that will give you other indicators of sexual abuse(since I'm assuming you have not taken a child abuse seminar).

either she saw something on TV and she is coping it or baby's and kids learn thing by touch taste and feel maybe it feels different to her and she is trying it out

I agree with your mom-- not necessarily about it being her way to fall asleep, but about nothing being wrong with her "habit."

this sounds close to what my son did when he was tired. He would lay down on the floor, bed...and start humping. I am not joking either.

I talked to other moms and they have said their kids did it also. It was a comfort thing like rocking themselves. it is weir but they grow out of it.

It could be worse....it could be in the middle of a bbq at your sister in laws house with the whole fam and friends around.....Thats embarrasing. : /

Yeah some kids do that.  It is uncomfortable.  I workded at a day care once and a four year old use to rub with his stuffed monkey.  Yep monkey.  The is little you can do to stop it it's not your kid.  If you have to stop sitting next to her when she is falling asleep or just tell her to sit sill.
