When I started babysitting it was hard to get more jobs too, but now I babysit for all the families on my block even though there are five other teenage girls on my block. I found that the best way to get more business is just to be a really fun babysitter and word gets around. Parents hate it when teenagers are on myspace and texting while their kids watch T.V. If your super fun the kids tell their parents and the parents tell other parents to hire you.

Ads in the newspaper, fliers in places where moms hang out (library, grocery store....etc..) and spread the word. Tell everyone you know that you are looking for kids to watch.

You do not want to randomly select people to babysit for.  It is safer to babysit for someone you know.  If you have younger siblings this is easier because you can ask their friends parents.  I am 20 and have been babysitting since I was 11.  I have three younger siblings.  I started off as a mothers helper and at one point had people calling to schedule me months in advance.  Currently, I steadily sit for one family.  If you do not have younger siblings, try volunteering at a pre-school or with kids.  I also got many jobs that way.  You don't even have to approach the parents, usually they will ask you.  A good tip is to make business cards; this can be done with a basic computer program, such as Microsoft Word or Publisher.  Hand them out at the end of the summer/school year/season depending on what you are volunteering as.  This is also good to do, depending on your age, to use as volunteer hours and also to put on a resume under a volunteer section.  Good luck!

You can post things there babysitting.

Also there are many babysitting/nanny sites that you can create a profile.

Also, going up to local places... Stores, the Y, things like that and putting something up about you wanting more kids to babysit.

Tell your mom and dad to ask their clients at work or their friends if they or their neighboors need a babysitter. That's how I got some jobs. My mom told her friends who told their neighboors which got me some costumers.
