I was at a water park with my friends 2 days ago, and on a rafting ride my friend's head slammed into my front (adult) tooth. It still hurts and it doesn't seem as tight as it was before.

Its not really wiggly, but its a bit looser than the rest of my teeth. It wiggles the same amount as it did before, its just easier to wiggle it.

Well my question is will it tighten up by itself?

I already had a dentist appointment for this Saturday, so I'm guessing before the cleaning they will take an x-ray of the tooth?

Any answers will be great, thanks!

But the main question..

It will tighten up by itself, right?

  1. It's possible it will tighten up by itself - but it really depends on how bad you banged it.

i fell against a ledge once and chipped one of my front teeth really bad, and knew i had to get it replaced.  but when i got to the dentist, apparently my other front tooth was wiggly and had a fracture in it - so i ended up having to get that replaced too!

i know that's not exactly what you want to hear, but i guess just be prepared for anything on saturday.

  2. I think so.  Just don't wiggle it any more.  Tell the dentist what happened and s/he'll no what to do.  Good luck!

    Help me!

Thank you for answering my question!

  3. Don't wiggle it or you will loosen it. Your tooth will heal up and get firm again. If it does not tel your dentist.

  4. First thing to do is to stop wiggling it as this can damage it further or make it more loose. Depends on how bad it damaged to tooth/ root. Just wait until your appointment and make one sooner if possible.

  5. Well, you might wanna ask for a dentist opinion about it. Dentist knows best they can do some assessment and diagnosed everything and find out the condition.

  6. If the root isn't damaged, it should. Just ask the dentist when you're there as well.
