  1. Enjoy the years he has, he looks to have many wonderful years ahead of him with you.     When I was 19   two days before my highschool graduation I had to make a choice for my beloved poodle.   She was ill and had been for a while.   She went into kidney failure.  So I chose to put her down.   I had to make the decision, my parents felt she was my dog and if they made it I would hate them forever, and I probably would have.    She was 14 years old.   She came to live with us right before I started high school when she was 10.     Recently another poodle I know died from Kidney failure.

So lately I've been thinking about my poodle (He just turned one the other day) and am I going to have to go through the same pain again one day with him.    But then I realize he brings me so much joy so whatever happens in the end though it will be hard will be worth it because of what he gave me.   Unconditionally love from mans best friend

  2. I know it'll be a difficult time when your dog does pass on, but you do still have plenty of time left with him. He's still pretty young, and dogs can live up to 16 years most of the time. It's great that you care about your dog so much, but don't be upset, because if you're upset all the time, you'll miss out on a lot of fun you two could be having together!

  3. Yes, my cat is 9 years now, I've been thinking of when she gets older, and older. I don't want her to die :( I wish we would die at the same time :(

If she dies any time soon, I might just kill myself XD

  4. He is only 2. Enjoy the time you have with him right now. Take it one day at a time. Don't worry about the future.

  5. I think your gonna marry a dog.

  6. We have a dog that is 14 years old in people years so dogs can have really long lives. Its normal to think about when they are going to be gone a be upset about it. Because no matter how it works dogs cant live as long as us. But I would try to save the grieving for when he does pass away and for now just enjoy your time with him.

  7. that is insane!  love him while he is here.  enjoy every moment.  when he dies, bury him and cry.  then get another dog because there are always so many homeless dogs that would be so grateful to just have a chance to live.

  8. Yep, my dog lives with my parents - we've had her since I was 14 and I'm 28 now.  I don't live in the same country as her anymore and if I think about her sometimes I get choked up that she might die before I see her again.  I have a picture of her on my desktop because I love her so much!

But your dog is 2, so no need to worry about that yet.

  9. I've lost pets, and I'm not going to sugar coat it, it's horrible.  Luckily, your dog is young and you have a lot of time to spend together before he goes.  He will probably be with you for 15 years or more, so you have lots of time.  When he's old and sick, you will feel more comfortable with him passing because you'll know he isn't suffering anymore.  I guess the bottom line is it's better to love with all your heart than to avoid love for fear of pain.

  10. Oh my gosh do I.  I sometimes think about my past dogs.  My Akita he was my buddy, and I so miss him.  When I see another one..it makes me think of Kruzer.  I love my dogs so much, and thinking about mine dying makes me come to tears at times.  So I just try to not think about it.  I hope mine live along time.  I dread that day...sometimes that is where I wish they could live forever and be happy and healthy, but we all know that is not going to happen.  So do not think you are alone on this one...as I think most of has been there.
