I being a medic in the army dangerous?

Yes, it's not as dangerous as a Infantryman but yes, it is dangerous. Most Army's would consider it coward is to shoot at a Medic as they barely shoot at you but unfortunately at the moment we aren't fighting an Army. Medic's are there to get there men to safety so there less likely to be shot at, you go behind Infantry and "pick up" the injured. Of course there still may be hostiles around but you are covered by others.

combat medics are part of a combat patrol, they have to be, how else would they be any help if they were not right there in the c**p with you.  its a really good job that hooks you up for the civilian work force.

68W are also called COMBAT MEDICS.  Pay especially close attention to the term COMBAT.  Does that answer your question?

In any branch of the military, medics can come under fire. Some, more so than others.

In 1974, I was a Navy Hospital corpsman flying medi-vac missions with the Marine Corps in Viet Nam. We were about 10 meters off the ground after picking up two wounded soldiers from a firefight, when a RPG landed in our pilots lap. Of the 7 aboard, (3 corpsmen, 2 wounded, and 2 pilots) I was the only survivor.

The chopper crashed on hard-pan, but I landed in a rice paddy,a and was stuck there until another chopper was able to fly in and pull me out; under fire!

To answer your question; danger comes with the territory when you are self- sacrificing enough to want to save the life of another. It's a commitment you make to yourself!

Yes, wouldn't make much sense keeping the MEDIC 20 miles from the battlefield would there? I believe you're fighting just as much as others but you're responsible for keeping them alive if one goes down.
