I believe I have mold inside my walls how can I tell.

I have hired a professional coming in 2 days Im just wondering if there would be any signs indicating that mold is in my walls. It is growing outside on my porch. I have a 9month old who is currently sick, is there any home test I can do before the pro comes in. I live in an apartment.

I'm glad you are having a pro test and that the apartment will do what it can to get rid of it. But here is a very significant thing you can do yourself (before and after). Mold can cause respiratory problems.   The only way to tell is to open up the walls and look for black staining.  Since you are renting, I should think you can demand it if you are sure there is mold elsewhere.

YOU should not be paying for this.  The landlord should.

As long as you already have a professional coming to check the mold in two days, I wouldn't bother trying to find a test kit.  I don't know that there is a test kit for mold.

Let the professional determine if you have mold inside your walls.  Don't forget to ask lots of questions about anything you don't understand.

If you're not satisfied with the professionals report, then get a second opinion.   Don't forget to send the bill to the owners/company of the apartment complex.

you should wash your wall where the mold is with thined down Bleach to kill the spores.

then undercoat where the mold has been.

then your ready to redecorate

There will not be signs.  Test kits only work when you can get a sample.  BTW, the bill is YOUR reponsibility, if you called for an opinion without permission.
