Question:

I believe LSD is underplayed as being harmful. Anyone else think it's much more harmful than most people say?

Just kinda baffles me that I see people on here who talk about LSD like it's no big deal yet they cannot stress enough on the frequency of bad trips and careful planning to help avert bad trips.

Look at some famous examples of LSD users. They're screwed up aren't they? They're always so incoherent and they seem like they're on some kind of permanent high or something.

LSD seems screwed up to me if theres a lot of potential danger and how utterly useless some examples of people who frequented on LSD have become.

I'd prefer if people didn't give me answers on how safe and nice LSD is. I've read enough of that on here which is why I'm posting this question. I'd like to hear some things against LSD for a change.

  1. what about alcohol, it has the same affect on alcoholics, they are slow and incoherent and they always seem either drunk or hungover. that's messed up. try solving the problems many people have rather than the ones a few people have.

  2. LSD didn't s***w anyone up.  Hoffman, Leary, and Shulgin all ended up very sharp later in life and they took over a thousand hits of LSD and similar drugs, often experimentally.  I'm not aware of any other famous examples of heavy users that made it into the golden years.

What you're talking about is flunkies.  Yes, flunkies gravitated toward LSD and other drugs, but the idea that it caused them to be scatter brained idiots is entirely unfounded.  Even if the problem did result out of substance use, it would probably be something else like alcohol or ecstacy, which are both far more damaging neurologically.

I don't know why you bring up bad trips, but the long term effect is no different from any equally bad experience. A bad trip can potentially result in PTSD, but that doesn't seem to be what you're talking about.

There are real dangers that are widely known if you'd bother to look.  Real problems include PTSD (rare), HPPD (very rare), injury under the influence (relatively rare), and unwanted life changing thoughts (not uncommon).

  3. People who talk about LSD like it's no big deal are just showing their ignorance.  I've know a guy who took it and ended up in the psychiatric ward of the hospital.  These days he walks around talking into his right shoulder...  I've known people who've taken it and killed their girlfriend.  He thought he could see the baby and decided it was a monster....  I knew people who took it and wound up plain dead....he REALLY thought he could stop that car with his thoughts....  I know people who had it on them and caught felony charges and served mandatory prison sentences.  These butt holes who took a little blotter or something these days wouldn't know real acid if it bit them in the rear end, and they just don't know what the heck they're talking about.  Many different chemicals can make you hallucinate.  Anything that screws with your mind as much as LSD can't be "nice and safe"....

  4. I agree. LSD is very harmful.

I have seen a few people who have become useless because of it, and god know what's in that stuff (rat poison, household cleaners).

    Seems pretty stupid to me.
