(infantry training school) during basic, which is right after the rifle range, lasts only one week. the only weapons one uses during Marine boot camp is their service rifle, pistol, and hand grenades. i believe army basic teaches more weapons than these. the reason why marine basic is so long is because of one week for water survival and third phase, is only to get ready for inspections and to perfect drill for competition, Marine recruits do more drilling than almost anything else. i would rather learn how to flank an enemy MG position than to do a right oblique or reverse march. army recruits learn more infantry tactics, Marine recruits look pretty on the parade deck. which is more important? by the way, i was in before the crucible

  1. lol i think he's kidding. but no if you are serious, i believe the marines get more infantry specific training OVERALL, just depends what jobs we're talking here. and, the army doesn't even teach pistols in basic.

it all comes down to your MOS and what unit you get and their training schedule.

  2. Perfecting drill for competition teaches team work, to move as one. The amount of "infantry training' in boot camp will differ depending on that branch's training doctrine. That's why they call it "BASIC" training.

  3. I went in in 95', and I remember playing with different MGs, the AT-4, and some other stuff. Boot camp just gets you ready to be trained in your field. S.O.I. (School of Infantry) was what, 3-4 months long for infantry. Your individual school taught you tactics for what you were doing.

  4. maybe you should go research why marines do the things they do and why they are so elite over the army! and theres a reason why the marines are hard to get into--because they want the best.

    Semper Fi!

  5. stop asking questions like this, everyday you come up talking bad stuff about the marines - if you like the army that much then go join them

  6. Your believe or you know? Which is it? I can tell you that what you believe is wrong. But if you want to find out for yourself just go to each Branches Website. They should have a link for Basic, Boot Camp, or whatever they call it. It should break down the training week by week. If that doesn't work, email a Recruiter online for each branch and find out.

I know the Marines train more in Basic Training than the Army does, but it is not a lot more though.

  7. ok well so what. i know the group that beats everyone else: its the Navy SEALs. if you know anything bout the military they are the most elite group in the military. they are trained in tactics and using weapons of all assortments. i think that the 6 months of training beats the marines, army and air force, even the basic navy. the know how not to get spotted by the MG position and take them out quietly. so my friend who gives a S**t bout the army being better than the marines. they are topped off by the SEALs.

  8. This isn't even a question, Friendo. It is a statement. And a very opinionated one, at that. The Marines train you to be organized, disciplined, and strong. The most important part of bootcamp is the drill and sharpness. Hence why you consistently see Marines walking around like they are marching together years after they've been in the Fleet wheras you see Soldiers looking more disheveled, mobbing from place to place. And can you tell me what the point is to spend one day learning how to flank a MG position when you are going to spend 3 months learning that IN DEPTH at the School Of Infantry RIGHT AFTER BOOT CAMP? Or even better, why would you spend days in boot camp training a Female Marine specializing in finance to flank a MG position? Does that make sense? Thats what MCT is for.

Sounds like you got a hard-on for Marines, friendo!

  9. XenosAce, you are comparing a special ops group to an entire branch, you idiot.  Now the Marines have MARSOC, which people can argue is better than the seals.  If you would like to compare branches then it is obvious that the Marines are the best.  Remember that even the Navy SEAL's were once rescued by Marines.
