I am getting emails from this guy asking me to cash this 2500 dollar check he sent me and send him remaining funds via western union. Can i cash this check at a check cashing place? If so and it goes threw and i decide to s***w this scammer over which is what i am planning can i be in trouble for anything? I'm just real tired of these emails and i just received the check today for 2,500 and at this point i want to just cash it and not send him his remaining funds. Any suggestions. How can i turn this around to benefit me?

  1. If you cash the check, you're the one that they'll come after because you're the one that got the money.  You won't be scamming the scammer.  He has nothing invested other than getting a counterfeit check that's good enough to fool the bank for awhile.  It won't cost him a penny more than it already has.  But cashing a check you think might be bad is a no-no if you want to stay out of jail.  The check is the equivalent of a counterfeit $50 bill.  There's no way to turn it around to benefit you.

Let me guess, he sent it to you via UPS or some other delivery method but not USPS.  He did this to avoid mail fraud charges.

  2. You can't profit by dealing w/a foreign scammer.  You hold onto fraudulent money and you will be at fault.

There are groups that set out to annoy scammers by playing with their heads, but I think that's about the best you can hope for.

  3. Send it back to avoid all hassals. Block the email address.

  4. you actually got the check?? wow, if you wanna be paranoid, open a new bank account and if the check actually works...s***w THE SCAMMER MWAHAHAHA!

  5. It's a FAKE CHECK. It's NO GOOD. If you attempt to cash it at the check-cashing place, they'll come after you for cashing a fake check. You'll have to give them back all the money and you'll be out the fee they charge you for cashing it.

THE CHECK IS WORTHLESS. THROW IT AWAY.
