I believe my name was James Phillips before adoption in 1955.?

Question

My name before I was adopted was James Phillips. My twin brother and I were born in or near Lansing Michigan in 1955. We have been told my biological mother was around 33 and father 28. One was Italian. My father had a PhD, in what we don't know. My Mother might have been a nurse. Does anyone know a family with the last name Phillips that could fit the description or something close? The details above are not for sure accurate, this is what we were told.

look it up in the net it wil show you how much youc an get your birthcertificate you were born in lansing. the health depart is where you write for your birthcertificate and it will give the names of the parents and any other siblings. you are on your way good luck

I believe the new right-to-know acts have made it legal for all people to gain access to birth records. On those records will be the names of your parents.

I would call up, or go to, the lansing MI public records office and have them search through birth records.
