Malachi has been acting funny all day. He's real lethargic and doesn't want to eat. He keeps gettin' up and laying down like he's really uncomfortable. I have my windows open in my room for the first time in like months and the temp outside is only about 78 degrees tops. It's not heat stroke or anything because he's not panting. I'm thinking it could be a hairball perhaps? He seems miserable. Are hairballs in rabbits the same in cats? I have some salve that we use for hairballs on our cats (it says for cats, kittens, and rabbits right on the bottle and it's made by Hartz)? Or is there another route I can take?

For those of you who are going to scream VET!!! I'm not quite prepared to put him through that stress yet and I want to try and treat him at home where I know he'll be comfortable. If he doesn't get better in a couple days, then I'll bring him in, but I'm looking for home remedies right now or any advice on what else it could be. Thanks!

  1. ok put a little water on him like ever 10 to 20 mins and it will  help him keep cool and  make sure his/her water bowl is full and get some soft food and see if he eats that and then if he starts to eat keep on giving him that for about a month or a couple of weeks and he will start to feel better and take him/her outside and play with him/her well hope your rabbit feels better

          good luck,

  2. prolly take him to the vet asap. (when you think he needs go) and also you gave me an excellent answer on one of my questions about beardies, i would love to see pics of yours. you can just go to my profile and email me

  3. The vet is a doctor and you should do that instead of having non experts here try to figer it out.
